The IT department of ACT conducted a seminar on Genetic Algorithm, an emerging technological trend in the field of IT. It was titled ‘Overview of Genetic Algorithm’ and it was held on 24 May, 2017, the talk was delivered by Mr. Monawar Rahman. He discussed the various applications of genetic algorithms - commercial, educational and scientific. He also touched upon GA in business and its supportive role in decision-making.
Mr. Rahman first discussed cross over, mutation and selection procedures in living cells and correlated these operations to the string of bits. Various permutations and combinations of proteins such as Adenine (A), Cytosine (C), Thymine (T) and Guanine (G) during cell division were demonstrated.
Overall, the workshop was useful and exciting learning experience for faculty members.
