ACT History
The college was established in 1993 through the decision of Vocational Authority no.131/93 in order to change it from a Vocational Training Institute to a full-pledge Technical College.
It was then that academic activities took place with the first batch of students and adopted Arabic Language as the medium of instruction on courses offered in the field of Accounting and Management. At the beginning, a total of 102 students were registered with 12 teaching staff and 17 administrative personnel. Despite of being novice, the entire team of the college was determined to improve the quality of education to produce high technical manpower. This is evident with the successful completion of 58 pioneer graduates in 1994-1995.
Encouraged by the success of the starting academic sessions, the college applied a new educational system which is the General National Vocational Qualification (GNVQ) in the academic year 1996-1997 as authorized by RSA (Royal Society of Arts)-UK. The medium of instruction was changed to English. At the beginning of academic session 2000-2001 the college introduced a new change to the existing system to start Omani National Diploma (OND).
Being aware of the rapid changes of technology and consequently the methodology of teaching, a New System was implemented in 2003-2004 to comply with the pace of the technical world. Likewise a tremendous increase in the number of students, teaching staff, technical staff, and administrative personnel was reached in succeeding years.
Today, ACT is growing in terms of infrastructures, facilities, and human resources thus continuously striving to make a difference in the economy of the Sultanate.
