Act has launched an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit(EIU). The inauguration of the unit was held on 4 April 2018 on ACT premises with the support of H.E. Dr Muna Salim Al Jardani, Undersecretary of Manpower Ministry for Technical Education and Vocational Training.
Dr Muna Salim Al Jardani inaugurated the event, accompanied by the College Dean, heads of departments and centers, guests, participants and faculty from ACT.
After the inaugural session, Dr. Muna Salim Al Jardani introduced the services offered to students by the unit. This was followed with a speech by the Dean, Dr. Issa Saif Mohammed Al Tubi. He appreciated the efforts of the private sector and the institutions in supporting the college in its innovation and entrepreneurship journey. Later, the sponsors, Acwa Power Barka, NOMAC Oman company, Al Musannah Municipality and Al Maladah Forts were also recognized and awarded by Dr., Muna Salim Al Jardani.
The opening ceremony also included honoring the outstanding students who won first place in the student research projects of the Research Council (TRC) and students who won first prizes in the Al Roya Youth Initiative Awards 2017 and Nama Ambassadors' Competition, where students Ali Kharousi and Ammar Al-Farisi took first place in the Environment and Bio-resources sector within the student research projects of the TRC, and first place in the Renewable Energy Sector within Al Roya Youth Initiative Awards 2017 and third place in the Power Generation Sector under Nama Ambassadors' Competition for Higher Education Institutions.
Student Mizna Said Al Saadi, was awarded the first prize in the field of Environment and Biological resources within the student research projects of the TRC, and the third place in the Electric Power Generation sector within Nama Ambassadors' Competition for Higher Education Institutions. The award included students who won first place in the Energy and Industry sector within the student research projects of the TRC 2017, namely: Mohammed Al-Khuzairy, Salim Al-Farsi and Imad Al-Harrasi.
The students honored were Omar Al-Muqbali, Ammar Al-Husani, Raja Al-Rawahieh and Tasnim Al-Mughizawi for their first place in the Environment and Bio-Resources sector within the student research projects of the TRC.
In the Education and Human Resources sector within the student research projects of the TRC, Abeer Al Balushi, Afrah Al Ghadani and Amal Al Salhi, were honored for their first place. The award included the students who had won the third prize in the Food and Safety sector in Al Roya Youth Initiative Awards 2017: Khadija Al Harassi, Zainab Al Salmani and Azza Al Ma'amri.
Dr Muna also acknowledged the students’ HOODAR Company, EJJER Company and EXIST Company, along with the services they offered since their launch in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit. She launched the official logo of Ejjer Company and the main steps used by the company to attract consumers.
Dr. Muna Salim Al Jardani also visited the ‘Haba Market’, which is a weekly souq organised by the college students to display their projects including Omani foods, photography services, book sales, printing etc.
