Another important event took place before the end of this academic year when in 29 May 2017, Sharakah and ACT signed an agreement with a purpose of inspiring and guiding ACT students in the field of entrepreneurship. The agreement was signed by Dr. Issa Saif Mohammed Al Tubi, College Dean and Mr Abdullah Al Jufaili, General Manager of Sharakah.
IEEE Oman Section honored the winners and mentors with certificates of appreciation and gifts. Edutech LLC, Middle East was the leading sponsor for the prize money.

Sarah Said Abdullah Al Khatri, Siham Nasser Rashid Al Hatmi and Ibtisaam Said Rashid Al Baqlali won the Third Prize in Android App Development while the duo, Marwa Ali Humaid Al Khusaibi and Haitham Nasser Khalifa Al Abri won the Third Prize in Web Designing.
Once again ACT Engineering team ‘ZILZAL’ has brought glory to ACT and Oman. The team won the second prize in the Robotics Challenge Competition at the IEEE GCC SYP Congress 2017 held in Bahrain
ACT IT students clinched a number of positions in these contests.
Abdulaziz Salim Hashil Al Hakmani, Khamis Salem Khamis Al Habsi, Muaath Ahmed Al Balushi and Abdullah Ahmed Al Kharosi won the first place in the Student Project Competition.
A local round in Oman for GCC Robotics Challenge was held at Sultan Qaboos University on March 20, 2017, and the teams ‘ZILZAL’ from ACT and ‘AWASR’ from Sultan Qaboos University were qualified to represent our country in the final round in Qatar on April 29, 2017.
ACT ZILZAL won First Prize in the final round by competing with 10 other teams from other GCC Countries and brought glory to ACT and Oman.
The second Omani University Robotics Competition had the theme of Vex 2017 Starstruck in which each robot scores points by throwing stars and cubes into opponent zones and the remote must be hung on the hanging bar.
The Quality Assurance office organized the 1st College workshop on ‘Curriculum Review in Collaboration with the Industry Partners’ on 18 April 2017.
The GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Robotics Competition is aimed to encourage undergraduate students and young professionals across the GCC Countries to build an innovative robust robot and compete in a pre-designed arena with space and time constraints, utilizing their academic knowledge and technical skills. The GCC Robotics competition is sponsored and organized by IET and IEEE, which are the largest professional engineering institutions.

The ACT Student Advisory Council conducted an introductory workshop for the new student Advisory Council members for the second term AY 2016-2017 on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. It was graced by Dr. Ahmed Ali Ahmed Al Shahri, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs.

During the special ceremony, a total of five hundred and thirty six (536) graduates were awarded with Bachelors (309), Advanced Diploma (24) and Diploma (203) Business Studies (211), Engineering (232) and Information Technology (93) degrees.
The best FURAP project award was won by SEAGSAO student researchers, Rashid Saif Al Yahmadi, Maher Khalifa Al Busaidi, Mohammed Rashid Al Maqbali, Gharib Jamil Al Mahrazi, Raad Khalifa Al Izki, Amal Saud Al Hadhrami, Hiba Bader Al Rujaibi with their main faculty mentor, Mrs. Analene Montesines Nagayo. The awarding ceremony was held during the TRC Annual Research Forum at Grand Millennium Hotel, Muscat on October 5, 2016.

The IT department of ACT conducted a seminar on Genetic Algorithm, an emerging technological trend in the field of IT. It was titled ‘Overview of Genetic Algorithm’ and it was held on 24 May, 2017.
The short term course entitled, “Introduction to PCB Fabrication”, is helpful, for engineering students to study PCB Fabrication in detail.
Participants were quite delighted to do the quiz and are hoping for more of such events in the future. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners on IT Orientation day held on 16 May, 2017.

CISCO, TMENA recently held a workshop for Al Musanna Cisco Networking Academy last March 20, 2016. The workshop was attended by 25 students from the IT Department which is currently enrolled in the Cisco Networking Academy Program.
