Guest Lecture on  ‘Industrial Practices – Manufacturing Customized Products’ by Mr. Nair, CEO, INTELEC  

The Engineering Society of ACT and the IEEE Student Branch organized a guest lecture for students titled ‘Industrial Practices – Manufacturing Customized Products’ on Tuesday, 16 October 2018 by Mr. Sreekumar. B. Nair, CEO of INTELEC, Muscat.

Mr. Sreekumar. B. Nair is an Electrical Engineer with several years of experience in switchgear manufacturing Industries. He has worked in various positions in India, UAE and Oman. He is a Member of the Institute of Engineers, Member of the Oman and UAE Society of Engineers, Chartered Engineer (CE) and an Assessor of EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management).
As a member of the Industrial Interaction Group (IIG) of Caledonian Engineering College, he is a reviewer for the restructuring of courses in Engineering. He is also a frequent guest speaker at Sultan Qaboos University.

His presentation gave an extensive overview on the complete process involved in manufacturing standardized and customized products. He elaborated on the challenges faced in every stage of the process. He discussed a case study on the Switch board manufacturing process. 

The presenter highlighted the importance of Industries in the growth of the country and how students can make use of the opportunities available in Manufacturing Industries.

He encouraged the students to build communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills along with their academic proficiency as they were very essential in the job market for a successful career.

 

 

 Students raised several interesting questions about available job opportunities.

 The Head of the Department of Engineering, Mr. Abdulhamid Hamdan Humaid Al Hinai thanked the speaker and honored him with a certificate and a memento of appreciation.
