‘ Technological Excellence for Humanity’ @ EEE/Engg Dept.

The Electrical and Electronics (E&E) Engineering Section is one of the three sections in the Department of Engineering at University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS-A) We run three specializations – Electrical Power Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Computer Engineering – up to the level of B. Tech., with a possible exit at Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels. Working on par with the college vision, mission and goals and with the zeal to accomplish the dream of the nation, the section endeavors to excel itself in delivering quality education and producing the best engineers for the Sultanate of Oman. Keeping close to the contemporary industrial need and research, our students are facilitated with modernized laboratories and trained by expert faculty and technicians.

The E&E Engineering Section takes the pride in establishing its presence in the GCC region in the field of Robotics and unmanned technology by participating in and winning several international and national competitions. Apart from the above, our students have consistently won several competitions in various technologies for the past years. We have bagged several TRC-funded projects in the GRG and UR category. Faculty members supervise students’ projects, displaying their accomplishments in the technologies, on projects such as unmanned drone delivery medical emergency systems, in-house built traffic monitoring systems, green houses with aero phonics & aquaponics, smart energy monitoring systems, robotic trolley cars and many more. The establishment and active functioning of the IEEE Students Chapter at the E&E Engineering Section also marks the commitment of our students and staff towards its striving to be on par with global technological developments.

All specialization laboratories and workshops are well-equipped with modernized equipment and facilities. The electrical power laboratories comprise a PLC lab, Machines lab, Power Electronics lab, Control system & Instrumentation lab, Power System lab, Energy System lab, Circuits lab and an Electrical workshop. The Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering laboratories comprise a Communication lab, a Microprocessor & Digital lab and a Project lab. The computer engineering specialization lab comprises the Computer Network lab, the Programming lab and the Computer Hardware lab. The industry-institution interaction is done through industrial visits, OJT and several other development programs.

The quest for excellence is a continuous process and we believe in making ourselves better and better in the days to come.
