Academic Programs and Resources

ACT is committed in meeting the needs of its students and staff both in and out of the classroom. From library to innovative computer technology, you get to access many tools to explore your academic interests. 

Curricula and Programs

ACT offers programs that provide administrative and technical training to Omani students in order to develop indigenous manpower for the national labor market.

Degree Audit

A Degree Audit is a document provided by the Admission and Registration Department to help student and advisor evaluate and tracks student’s progress towards the attainment of degree requirements of a particular specialization.

Short Term Courses

We provide additional training through short term courses to qualify the students further in their chosen career. We offer specialized programs for the students to meet the labor market and technological requirements.

To be enrolled in such programs, you must submit an application form with all the required documents attached, and pay the approved tuition fees, if any. Such specialized programs or short courses should fulfill the conditions without conflicting with other courses or programs.

College Library

The College Library holds more than a hundred volumes of books, newspapers, magazines, and coursewares. The college procures books and CDs based on the needs and requirements of staff and students each semester. A considerable number of books/CDs are added each year for the benefit of all staff and students. The library environment is maintained in such a way that is conducive for learning.

Student Access Center

This facility is provided to students to improve their English Communication Skills. A variety of educational resources are available such as DVDs, CDs, books, magazines, and other publications related to English communication and literature. Television and other accessories are installed for video viewing and recording.

eLearning@ACT

E-Learning provides quality higher and continuing education to Omanis through distance learning. Its mission is to give its students informal education, as well as to develop discipline and capability to become lifelong learners at anytime and in any place of today's knowledge society.

General Foundation Program

The English Language Centre offers the General Foundation Program (GFP), that will develop students' English Language Skills, basic computer skills, math, and general study skills. The focus is on developing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. 

Specialization Program

After completing the General Foundation Program, students will be registered among the three departments: Business Studies, Engineering, and Information Technology. The academic department curriculum prepares students with knowledge and skills for both the existing job market and self-employment. Students can also graduate with a diploma or higher diploma qualification level.

On-the-Job Training offers a wealth of opportunities that supplement the primary activities in the field of specialization to correspond with professional competencies

Certification Programs

ACT offers different academic program certification courses in association with or certified by professional bodies:

  • CISCO Certified Network Associate (CISCO CCNA)
  • Course Completion in Oracle (in-house)
  • Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

 

The main objective of ICDL is to enhance the basic skills in Information Technology.

The Cisco CCNA® Discovery provides foundational networking knowledge, practical experience, opportunities for career exploration, and soft-skills development to help students prepare for entry-level careers in IT and networking.

The Oracle Training provides students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Oracle’s world-class database technologies, giving them a competitive advantage as they prepare to enter the workforce.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification provides students with a solid foundation in finance and accounting. They acquire the necessary technical skills and knowledge required to perform an accounting support role.
