An educational trip to the Oman Refreshment Company (Oman Refco), Muscat was organized on 16 October 2019 for Advanced Diploma students of the ‘Managing Troubled Employees’ course. A total of 15 students participated in the trip, accompanied by course instructor, Ms. Jeannette Ong Ee-Lyn.
Our arrival at 10 am was warmly welcomed by Ms. Fatma Al Shabibi, the Operation Coordinator at Oman Refco. There was a 40-minute presentation on how to manage workers related to HSE (Heath, Safety & Environment) by Mr. Maawyah Al Ghassani, HSE Engineer, who also explained how disciplinary action is taken towards employees who violate safety rules and proper conduct at the work place.
We were then taken on a tour around the production, bottling and packaging plants. We were given an insight of the whole process from the moulding of different sizes of bottles to the bottling of the liquid, the labelling and the packing. Queries by students were cleared and answered throughout the whole tour.
Finally, the tour ended and we were given some goodies to be taken back home as souvenirs. We left the company at 1.00 pm and returned to the campus by 2.00 pm. In sum, the students enjoyed the trip and found it very interesting and educational.
