A team of 5 students from the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Specialization of ACT presented their Advanced Diploma Graduation project ‘Smart Baby Cradle’at the Al Roya Youth Initiative Award 2019, which was held on December 15, 2019 in Kempenski Hotel, Muscat. The event sponsored by Occidental of Oman, had around 500 teams exhibiting their innovative projects under several categories like Recycling, Renewable Energy, Information Technology, Robotics, etc.
ACT team was one among the best three projects selected out of 105 teams in the category of Robotics and was honoured with the Al Roya Award and certificate. The selection was done in 2 stages. The first one was in GU Tech, Oman where 7 teams were shortlisted out of 105 teams. The final round was held in Kempenski wherein 3 teams were selected out of 7 teams.
The Smart Baby Cradle is an automated cradle which rocks when baby cries and informs a busy mother with an alarm. It is a remote-controlled cradle for ease of mobility. The project is a utility model which can be commercialized with a few improvements.
Mr. Abdul Hamid Al Hinai, the Head of the Department and Mr. Mohammad Sajid Ali, Head of the Section, appreciated the efforts of the team and encouraged the students and staff to use such forums as an opportunity to exhibit both their technical and entrepreneurial skills.
