Engineering Students Won in Research and Poster Competitions
engEngineering students from the University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Al Musannah (UTAS-A) won first place in the Dhofar University Student Research Competition (DUSRC22) last March 10, 2022. The winning project is titled "Crop Health Monitoring and Decision Support System for a Soil-less Farming Facility Using IoT and Machine Learning." This TRC-funded URG project was presented by student researchers, namely; Majid Al Mujaini, Hussein Al Ghafri, Saif Al Maqbali, Mohammed Al Hinaai, and Monthadar Al Shidi, along with their faculty mentor Analene Montesines Nagayo.
Meanwhile, in the poster competition at the first International Conference on Environmental Science and Engineering for Sustainable Development (ESESD2022) which took place in Sohar on March 9-10, 2022, Engineering students from UTAS-Al Musannah bagged the second place. The students, Majid Al Mujaini, Hussein Al Ghafri, Yarub Al Ghafri, and Jamil Al Yahmadi, along with their faculty mentors, Analene Montesines Nagayo and Eugene Vega, presented their poster titled "Smart Hybrid-Powered Integrated Soil-less Farming Facility Using IoT for Sustainable Agriculture and Aquaculture".
