HRDC conducted a series of workshops on the topic of ‘The Internet of Things - Cisco-based’, facilitated by Ms. Tamilarasi from the Department of IT, supported by Mr. Rodrigo Nabong from ETC
The workshop was conducted in two consecutive days on 25th & 26th December 2019.
On Day 1, participants were given an introduction to the real world of IoT, the history of IoT and how IoT works. Ms. Tamilarasi explained the need for sensors and how sensors should be connected to the cloud using various media. These media include mobile or satellite networks, Bluetooth, WI-FI, WAN, etc.
On Day 2, the functioning of Cisco software was explained by Ms. Tamilarasi, with the help of Mr. Rodrigo Nabong Jr, to create a login account for the participants in the Cisco network academy. Ms. Tamilarasi explained the working of the Cisco packet Tracer components and how they can be used for different IoT projects. She also showed how to place the components and connect them through different ports and sensors, IoT cables, Ethernet cables, and with the necessary connections.
Mr. Rodrigo and Ms. Tamil guided the participants through the IoT System configuration.
Both the sessions were informative, relevant and highly interesting ones. Faculty from IT, Engineering, Business, ETC and Administration participated in the sessions.
