The 49th National Day of Oman was celebrated on ACT campus on 19 November 2019 with traditional pomp and gaiety.
The campus was decorated with colourful flags, banners and buntings. Departments competed among themselves to make their buildings look the most attractive. His Excellency, Sheikh/ Rashid bin Mohammed bin Nasser Al Saadi, Member of Majlis A’Shura, the Representative of Al Musanna District, the Chief Guest of Honour, visited all the stalls on campus. He was accompanied by Dr. Issa bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Tubi, the College Dean, Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Ghazali, Asst. Dean for Admin & Financial Affairs and Dr. Halah bint Ahmed bin Salim Al Kathiri, Asst. Dean for Academic Affairs and Head of Centers and Departments.
The event included a variety of cultural, artistic, scientific and social events. The ceremony included many programmes and performances that were launched at the beginning of the day. The celebrations began with a tribute to science and national trends by a group of scouts. Then the sponsor of the ceremony visited the exhibitions accompanying the celebrations of this day, which included an exhibition of plastic arts and handicrafts, which showed a painting of the image of Sultan Qaboos. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit presented their entrepreneurial projects to college students through a ‘National Day Habtah’.
The patron then opened the Origami Art Exhibition, held by the Friends of the Library. The Business Studies Society presented a collection of traditional Omani artisan crafts and a photo exhibition of His Majesty's historical achievements, while the celebration of the IT community was represented in a competition organized for the Best Painting at the national level, the Imprint of Love Impression and the Formation of Number 49 using computer parts and other national competitions.
The ceremony also included a national theatrical presentation by the students of the college theater group, a performance of Operative Singing by the Inshaad group and poetry by the Okaz group, who recited several national poems where the love for the country and the Sultan was expressed.
Moreover, the Friends of Light group had organized a photography studio. The Tawasul Media Group conducted a contest for the Best Report on National Day 49. They also conducted a competition for the Best Painting.
Overall, it was a relaxing and cool morning, full of patriotic fervor.
