ACT welcomes 670 students in Orientation Week of Second Semester, AY ‘18- ‘19.
The Center for Foundational Studies (CFS) and the Department of Student Affairs together organized an Orientation Week for new students from January 6 – 10, 2019.
On the First day of the Orientation Week, students were informed about English, Math and IT placements tests. They were informed about the levels of student placement in the CFS (Levels One to Four) and the phases that they would undergo before they chose their specialization. The importance of their attendance, the college and the CFS policies were also pointed out. This was followed by information on the English Placement test that would be conducted for the students.
On the Second and Third day of the orientation, the students were given a Diagnostic Test on their subject knowledge, based on which they were placed in different fields of study of Math and IT.
The Fourth and Fifth days of the orientation were held at the college auditorium; the students were warmly welcomed by Dr. Issa Saif Mohammed Al Tubi, the Dean of the college, Dr. Halah Ahmed Salim Al Kathiri, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA) and Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Ahmed Al Ghazali, Assistant Dean for Admin. & Financial Affairs (ADAF) and Dr. Nihad Abdallah Mohammed Al Zadjali, HOC-ELC.
The Dean, Dr. Issa, in his speech encouraged the students to pursue their achievement with their hard work and commitment to their studies.
Dr. Halah Ahmed Salim Alkathiri, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA), wished them a year full of hard work and commitment to their studies.
This was followed by speeches by Mr. Majid Issa Al Rashdi, Admission and Registration Department, Ms. Badriya Al Salmi, Head of Counseling and Graduates Follow-up Department and Mr. Mudhaher Abdulhasan Al Ajmi, Student Affairs, who presented the rules and regulations of the college and the important student services that were offered, including Registration and Admission, Student Counseling, Student Activities, On-the-Job Training and Graduation.
Finally, Ms. Zainab Al Ma'awali, HOC-ETC, introduced the online services of the college through a video presentation and explained the benefits of the college e-services. Later, students were given practice in ACT labs on the use of e-services such as the Re-sit password, Emailing and E-learning.
On the last day of the orientation week, the placement test results were announced by the CFS.
All the staff and students of ACT expressed their happiness on the occasion and wished the new students a fruitful year of learning.
