The Mechanical & Industrial Engineering section of the Department of Engineering organized a Staff Development training programme on ‘Solid Works Software’. The programme was conducted in two sessions on 25 September and 2 October 2018. It was presented by Mr. K. K. Natarajan. The faculty members of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering section actively participated in the two-day training programme.
The intent of the training programme was to demonstrate the use of the Solid Works 2018 mechanical design automation software to build parametric models of parts, assemblies and create engineering drawings of the part models and assemblies.
The training programme was designed to allow learners to pick up the essential 3D modelling and detailing skills through a task-based and hands-on approach to training and produce appropriate presentations for engineering drawings.
Overall, it was a very informative and interesting lab session. This will be continued in the next session of the workshop series, enabling participants to gain more knowledge in the usage of Solid Works Software in CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) as well.
