On 2nd February 2020, ACT's Risk Management Committee held an event addressing Risk Management Implementation under the auspices of the Dean.
The event commenced with Dr Nasser Al Habbadi (ACT's RMC Deputy Chairman), and Mr. Jefferson Verzosa's presentation and explanation of the current processes and structures of the College's Risk Management System, and they also outlined the challenges being faced.
The guest speaker and industry expert from ORPIC was Mr. Mohammed Al Hinai (Risk Management and Insurance Manager), who elaborated on his experience of implementing and monitoring Risk Management, including its implications, and presented case studies to the audience. Mr. Mohammed has over 15 years' experience in heading Risk Management teams in several prestigious Omani companies, and has additionally undertaken secondments at home and abroad which required his expertise.
The final part of the event was dedicated to an in-depth look at ACT's classification and evaluation of risks which are based on the Colleges of Technologies' Common Risk Management Policy (October 2019). Ministry QA experts - Dr Bennet Ebenezer, Mr. Waseem Hashem, and Dr Nida Malliari lead by Mr. Salim Al Jabri (MoM QD Director), shared with the participants their knowledge, experience and best practices. They also provided valuable feedback and advice on developing and improving ACT's Risk Management procedures.
The end of the event was marked by the awarding of tokens of appreciation and certificates to the guests by ACT's RMC Chair, Ms. Zainab Al Ma'awali - Head of Educational Technology Center.
