Aim and Scope of the Book

Sustainable business transformation is a vital factor in a country's economic growth trajectory, as it balances global competitiveness with inclusion. The case for sustainable transformation means massive change as well as massive new opportunities that integrates the ecological, social and economic goals into corporate choices which is a critical component for achieving sustainability. Navigating the transformation trajectory becomes a matter of survival for companies and societies. As sustainability pressures are observed at all-time high it becomes imperative for the businesses to identify appropriate business strategies that could accelerate their sustainable transformation through finding new opportunities and avenues for growth. This book contributes to multidisciplinary study in the realm of business-society interaction with the goal of expanding the firm-centric view of business and societal change to include a larger, systemic, and dynamic knowledge of business and societal transformation by bridging the gap between academic research and real-world business practices. The chapters of the book are premeditated to be grounded on strategies for business transformation, precisely the interdependencies between innovation, transformation and sustainability which makes for a robust basis for describing, explaining, and understanding the respective strengths, opportunities and complex challenges faced by business and society in the 21st century.

Chapter Themes

The book focuses on the strategies for business transformation that will accelerate sustainable growth. Business transformation being the main theme, sub-themes relevant to key sectors and emblematic topics are listed below. Authors could base their chapters on either of the following domains on the indicative topics or any other topic relevant to the domains.

Indicative topics 

The topics under the mentioned domains may highlight: Digitalization, Strategic approaches, Sustainable practices, Social perspectives, Transformational changes, Re-designing, Competitiveness and Challenges, Green practices, Artificial Intelligence and Future scenario.

 

 

Guidelines for Authors

  • The Chapter should be related to the theme of the book.
  • Chapters must be Original, Plagiarism free, with proper citation, unpublished and currently not submitted for publication elsewhere.
  • Chapters should be within the page count of about 10-15 pages and words ranging between 3,000-6,000 inclusive of abstract and references.
  • Chapter contributions should have an abstract (within 300 words) with key words (minimum 3 to maximum 5).
  • All manuscripts should be submitted only in MS Word file: Times New Roman with font size of 12 and 1.5 line spacing with references given at the end of the chapter in APA referencing style.
  • Figures and tables should be aligned at centre, separately numbered, self-explained. Please note that table titles must be above the table and sources of data should be mentioned below the table. The authors should ensure that tables and figures are appropriately referenced.
  • For case based primary source chapters, consent/clearance to publish the case will be required from the company/organization /individual.
  • Similarity score of 15% or lower considered acceptable for the chapter.
  • Contributors are requested to mention their full name with affiliation, contact number, email and complete official postal address below the title of the chapter.
  • Authors are required to send a short biographical note (less than 100 words) along with passport size photo.
  • All submitted chapters will be reviewed on double-blind review basis.
  • Authors of accepted chapters are to abide by the publication norms of the University including transfer of copyright.

Editorial Guidelines

The editorial team’s decision will be ultimate with regard to the manuscripts accepted for publication. The choice will be based on the recommendations of the reviewers and members of the editorial team. The editors reserve the right to accept (with or without revisions) or refuse a chapter with no reason being mentioned. Even though authors are invited to revise and resubmit their work, there is no assurance that the new version will be accepted. The author or authors should ensure that the submitted chapter is their original work/unpublished, and that they will not be submitted anywhere else. The editorial team complies with all applicable legal standards for libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism policy.

Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Shahri

Dean - University of Technology and Applied Sciences- Al Mussanah (UTAS-A)

Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Shahri, an enthusiastic and dedicated Engineer and Academician with vast experience across all areas of Technology and Educational Management is the Dean of University of Technology and Applied Sciences- Al Mussanah (UTAS-A), Sultanate of Oman. He was awarded PhD in Manufacturing Systems Engineering in the year 2008 by University Putra Malaysia, where he completed his master’s in Manufacturing Engineering as well. Dr. Ahmed completed his bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering at California State University, USA. He governed the University of Technology and Applied Sciences –Nizwa (UTAS-N) as the University Dean since January 2019 prior to which he was associated with UTAS-A as the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs (2016 to 2019). He is an exceptional leader and since he was appointed as the Acting Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, UTAS-Salalah in the year 2009 Dr. Ahmed managed several administrative positions in various Universities of Technology and Applied Sciences. He was the Acting College Dean of UTAS-Salalah for the year 2010, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs UTAS-A and UTAS - Salalah during the years 2011 and 2011 to 2016 respectively. Dr. Ahmed was appointed as a Municipality Council Member of the Mirbat Municipality Council to represent the public and to consider the well- being and interests of citizens and residents of Mirbat. Apart from his crucial administrative positions, Dr Ahmed is equally dedicated to academia and published several papers in National and International Journals, Conferences and Symposiums. At the international level, his papers get published and admired in several acclaimed journals of Malaysia, Egypt, Turkey and Indonesia. Dr Ahmed also chaired various Curriculum Development Committees both at the Ministry and College levels. His main area of interest includes supply chain management and manufacturing engineering.

Dr. Aziza Abdallah AlQamashoui, a prolific, dedicated and resourceful educator is the Head of the Department of Business Studies, University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Al Mussanah (UTAS-A), formerly Al Musanna College of Technology, Oman. She, along with her team was instrumental in establishing the Technology Transfer Office in the University by winning the 1st Fund Award to establish Technology Transfer Office (TTO) in Higher Education Institutions in Oman during the year 2018 by The Research Council-TRC (MOHERI -Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation), Oman. She was honoured for her proficiency and enthusiasm by the Plymouth Doctoral Colloquium UKPDC,Plymouth University in the year 2016. Dr. Aziza, the graduate of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Muscat, Oman received her doctorate in Management from the University of Plymouth, UK and Masters in International Accounting and Financial Management from Glasgow University, UK. She joined UTAS-A as a lecturer in accounting and finance in 2018. She teaches a set of curricula related to management, finance, and research methodologies. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Higher Education in the United Kingdom, Research Fellow in Humanities Research Center in SQU and the deputy of the Research Committee at the UTAS-A. She oversees many research-related activities such as preparing research policy, technology transfer strategies and intellectual property policy. Her areas of research and practice relates to the areas of accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, IP, etc. Dr. Aziza has presented papers in national and international conferences and symposiums organized by the reputed universities in UK, Ireland, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Since 2018, she has been constantly working as a researcher on a variety of projects funded by TRC (MOHERI), Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and Oman LNG in the fields of entrepreneurship, education, innovation and economic development. Her areas of interest include research, innovation, IP and technology transfer. Dr. Aziza began her career as a financial analyst at Schlumberger, Oman and after completing her masters, she held many administrative positions which include Head of Finance Department, Quality Assurance Coordinator in the UTAS - Shinas.
