The research webinar was organized by Dr.Vanitha Mahadevan and Dr. Senthil Rajaram, the Research Committee of Engineering Department jointly with SDP committee of Engineering Department on 24.06.2020 at 10 am. The speaker Mr. Vishnu Ramasamy, Lecturer, C & A section of engineering department delivered the seminar on the topic “DRIFT ANALYSIS IN HIGH RISE STRUCTURES”. As many as 36 faculties participated in this seminar.
The abstract of the speech is given below.
Construction industry is booming like anything every single day. New technologies are invented by architectural and structural researchers to build high rise structures because sky is the limit for them. As young buddy engineers and the designers must know the importance of designing the high rise structures against wind and earthquake forces. Different types of analysis are there in the design of high rise structures like response spectrum analysis, time history analysis, drift analysis, etc and different tests are also there like wind tunnel tests, shake table tests, etc.
This presentation is based on research of 25 storey high rise building analysis by using ETABS software. In this analysis, roof drift and storey drift and their effects on the building are discussed in detail. This will help the designers to understand the need and importance of analysis and design of the buildings
