The Ninth Technical Forum of the technological colleges starts on March 1, 2020 under the patronage of Her Excellency, Dr. Muna bint Salim Al Jardani, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training in Al Musanna College of Technology. This forum aims to create a stimulating environment for innovations for students of technological colleges. It also develops in them skills commensurate with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The forum of this year will focus on the following:
This forum will cover several competitions in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. The competitions are named Markathon, Datathon and Robotics Challenge.
All the technological colleges will participate in this forum which will target 12 students from each college with a total of 84 students, and heads of entrepreneurship units from each college. There will be 24 of activities, workshops and competitions during the 4 days of the forum as follows:
Day One, March 1, 2020 – the representatives of Al Musanna College of Technology will meet and welcome the visitors in Millennium Hotel, then they will move to the Break the Ice Event, and after that they will have dinner in the open air at the hotel.
Day Two, March 2, 2020 : Will start with the official opening of the forum. The main spokesperson will talk about the forum. After that, they will move to the Inventor Experience Event and the inventor will talk about his experience. Moreover, they will display the best short video based on the competition between the colleges. They will also honor the participants and the speakers.
And after these five activities, they will move to open the Technology Transfer Office. Her Excellence, the Undersecretary, will meet the representatives of the Student Advisory Councils. The penultimate event of this day will be the training workshops and announcing of competitions. Finally, all the participants will go for an external trip.
Day Three, March 3, 2020 The Markathon will begin. Markathon will be about marketing the innovations and the graduation projects by using modern and developed methods. The second competition is Datathone and it will be about innovating a product or a service by using the open data. The Robotics Challenge is the third competition and it will be three rounds in each round will be two challenges and there will be specialized guides on robots’ field for each competition to guide the participating teams. The last event of this day will be the evening market for students’ projects in the college campus. Also, there will be a talent show and some cultural and athletic competitions in the external theater.
The last day of the forum will be on 4 March 2020.The recommendations of the meeting with the Students Advisory Council will be presented, the results of the competitions will be announced and the winners awarded.
