The Department of Engineering organized a ‘Workshop and Awareness Programme on Turnitin /ProQuest Software’ on 8 January, 2019. The intent of the workshop was to create awareness about Turnitin/ProQuest Software and to demonstrate its use effectively.
The Workshop and Awareness session on Turnitin database was presented by Ms. Deepika Varshney, Faculty, Engineering Department and the Workshop and Awareness session on ProQuest database was presented by Mr. Stalin Kumaradoss, Faculty from the Engineering Department.
The Head of the Engineering Department, Heads of sections and the staff members from the Engineering Department actively participated in the session.
In the first session, Ms. Deepika explained, with demonstration, how Turnintin works - how it can help in academic writing and in creating assignments, viewing student assignments, maintaining originality (plagiarism) reports and for grading.
In the second session, Mr. Stalin Kumaradoss explained the various resources of ProQuest Database, such as ProQuest eBook, ProQuest central and dissertations database available in the E-Library. He further demonstrated how to access into the ProQuest eBook central for accessing the Electronic books, ProQuest central for accessing the scholarly journals, conference paper, proceedings, magazines and trade journals and dissertations database for accessing the published theses and Dissertations.
There was good interaction between the participants and the presenters during the sessions. Several questions on Turnitin and ProQuest database were raised by the participants and clarified by the presenters. Overall, it was a very informative and interesting workshop.
