Workshop on ‘Data Mining using WEKA’

The Engineering Department conducted another successful workshop on ‘Data Mining using WEKA’ in association with IEEE Student Branch of ACT on 5 February 2019. This workshop was planned in the process of sharing expertise and technology among the institutions in the Sultanate.

The main objective of the workshop was to emphasize the emerging technologies incorporated in the process of managing data as it is a most popular issue nowadays.

Data Mining is the procedure of capturing large sets of data in order to identify the insights and visions of that data. Nowadays, the demand for the data industry is rapidly growing, due to which the the demands for Data Analysts and Data Scientists has also increased.

Resource persons Dr. Janaki Sivakumar and Ms. Hameetha Begum, Faculty of the Computing Department, Muscat College, took great pains in conducting this workshop. Around 40 participants from Engineering, Business Studies and Information Technology departments attended the workshop and gained knowledge on Data Mining using WEKA Tool.




At the end of the session, the resource persons were felicitated with a mementos and a certificate and a Vote of Thanks was given by the Engineering Department and IEEE Student Branch of ACT. 



Overall, it was an extremely informative workshop on an important topic, as evidenced by the number of participants who attended it.
