IT Department Conducts Webinar on Introduction to Robotics
Through the Staff Development Program(SDP) Committee, the Department of Information Technology conducted a webinar on “Introduction to Robotics” on 2nd February 2021, Tuesday. The talk was delivered by Ms. S.V. Tresa Sangeetha from the Engineering Department. The webinar was intended for the sharing of knowledge and best practices in projects between Engineering and IT Departments.
Ms. Sangeetha started with the multidisciplinary aspects of designing a robot and how the requirement of the project or competition pushed the Department to try various development boards and kits like Basic Stamp BS2, Arduino, and Vex Cortex.
Algorithm, Robot C Program for simple robot movements, and autonomous operations like line following and obstacle avoidance robots were also discussed. The discussion also included technical difficulties in path navigation due to draining of battery and the solution of encoder feedback for better reliance on accurate path navigation.
Finally, videos of various student projects such as the heavy duty Meccanum wheeled robot chair with lateral movement, Autonomous Navigating Robot, Smart Garbage Segregation System, Automatic Rocking Cradle, and line following and obstacle avoidance waiter robots were shown.
