A Student Activity: CALCULUS 1 – A QUICK RECAP

The Mathematics section of the Department of Information Technology (IT) organized an activity titled “CALCULUS 1 – A QUICK RECAP” for the university students on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 5 p.m. through MS TEAMS.  The IT department with the collaboration of the Student Activity members invited students from the CALCULUS 1 course to participate in this workshop. The workshop aimed at creating awareness amongst students regarding general guidelines during the exam, and it also focused on informing them about the necessary steps to solve questions from Limits, Derivatives, and Application of Derivatives. The program was hosted by Ms. Rana Tarannum and Ms. Blessy Jayaron Jose.

 

This online activity started with a welcome speech delivered by Ms. Rana Tarannum. Thereafter, Ms. Rana Tarannum started the session with an animation video on the Application of Calculus and Derivatives in real life. She then continued with an explanatory note on Limits, Derivatives through videos and animations. She also emphasized the basic mistakes that students make during exams and ways to rectify those mistakes. Her workshop concluded with a question and answer session in the form of a short quiz.

 

The next presentation was given by Ms. Blessy Jayaron Jose. She explained Chapter 3 –Application of Derivatives with the help of interesting videos, animations, and pictures. Ms. Blessy emphasized more the Basic Formulas and graphical interpretation required for this chapter.  The program concluded with a question and answer session followed by calculating the score of students who answered.

The activity concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Rana and Ms. Blessy.
