ELC Recognized Staff During Awarding Ceremony & Year-End Celebration

On June 29th 2022, The English Language Center (ELC) of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Al Musannah (UTAS-A) marked its first significant milestone in dedicating a special day to celebrate and showcase its appreciation to all of the academic and support staff members in a spectacular ceremony that was held in the University Auditorium. After a long hiatus due to Covid-19 restrictions that had put social gatherings and public events on hold, the event glimmered from the minute the opening prayers were recited in the auditorium way to the bangs of raffle draws and fun games which ended the ceremony on a high note.
The awarding ceremony and year-end celebration day was beautifully emceed by Dr. Annie Bangtegan, ELC QA Coordinator and Mr. Mohsen Ghorbanpoor, ELC SDP Coordinator. The event unfolded by having all attendees stand up to sing the National Anthem of Oman. The Head of Center (HoC), Dr. Nihad Al Zadjali welcomed and congratulated everyone in her opening remarks, and this was later followed by an uplifting and inspiring message by UTAS-A Dean, Dr. Ahmed Al Shahri.
To keep up with the excitement in the auditorium, Dr. Faisal Al Saidi, the Head of Section of CTM came on stage and left the whole auditorium in great anticipation as he announced the overview of awards.
The ceremony saw almost every staff member being awarded and appreciated. The recipients were wonderfully overwhelmed and surprised with the awards that were given out throughout the event: Mr. and Ms. Congeniality, Service Awards, Exemplary Performance Award, and the Excellent Performance in Teaching Award. Apart from the awarding ceremony, the staff members were also pleasantly entertained by the ELC Staff Wow Facts trivia where interesting and colorful details of some of the lecturers were revealed and broadcasted for everybody to note and cherish.
After the joyous celebration, Mr. Juma Al Ghafri, ELC Head of Section (HoS) delivered his closing remarks and extended his gratitude to those who came and took part in making the event possible. He then invited all attendees to indulge in a lovely buffet spread organized by the Staff Social Committee (SSoC).
