Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Students Won Third Prize for Poster Presentation in ACIHA-2021
Ahmed Zahran Ali Zahran Al Mawali and Abdul Aziz Saleh Saif Al Mazroui, students of UTAS-Al Musannah competed in the “ACIHA-2021 Online Symposium on Advances in Computational Intelligence and Heuristic Applications 2021” and won third prize on 10-11th November 2021. The winners, under the guidance of Mr. Kedar Deepak Chimote, Lecturer M&I Section and Mr. Kantharaj Chinnappa, presented their poster on the project titled, “Design and Fabrication of Fruit Sorting Machine”. This project is also awarded a grant from TRC-URG.
The winning project is an electro-mechanical machine which can sort the lemon based on its size and color. It is an automated sorting machine, which is user friendly and economical for use with very less maintenance. It uses a Raspberry PI 4 as a main key component for color sensing mechanism whereas the size sorting is done by mechanical arrangement. The objective of this project is to make efficient size and color sorting machine for lemons which will perform the work efficiently and without human help.
