Project Description:

This research project presents the design and implementation of a smart solar-powered solid waste segregation system and a self-driving trash collector robot to promote environmental sustainability within Al Musanna College of Technology campus.  This project involves the design, construction, assembly and implementation of the following: (1) Solid Waste Segregation System (SWSS) including the conveyor and electro-pneumatic components; (2) control and monitoring system for solid waste segregator using microcontrollers interfaced with sensors, actuators, and Particle Photon cloud; (3) Self-Driving Trash Collector Robot  (TCR) using VEX Clawbot and Arduino microcontroller interfaced with sensor, actuators, GSM/GPS shields; and (4) solar energy conversion station and robot wireless charging module that provide power to the various part of the project. The system as a whole exhibits the use of modern engineering technology in waste management to keep a clean and green campus environment with minimum human intervention for sanitation and health safety.
