Under the patronage of Mrs.Naila Bint Hamad Al Busaidi, Chairwoman of the Omani Committee for Deaf Sports, and in the presence of HE Dr. Saeed bin Hamad Al Rubaie, President of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, the Bawsala Forum for Entrepreneurship for People with Disabilities was launched on 14 November 2023. The University auditorium witnessed the opening ceremony of the forum which began with the Royal Salute, followed by the opening speech delivered by Dr.Nasser Al Bimani, Vice Chancellor of UTAS-Al Musannah .  A summary of the Bawsala Award for Entrepreneurs was also delivered by Dr.Aziza Al Qamshoui, Head of the College of Economic and Business Administration.  Subsequently, an infographic video presentation was broadcast to introduce the Bawsala initiative. This was followed by a visual presentation to introduce the activities of Bawsala, after which the experiences of the following entrepreneurs with disabilities were presented: the CEO of SignBook Company, Sultan Al-Amri, the CEO of Al-Basaer Company for Technical Projects, Ali Al-Amri, and the innovator, Sheikha Al-Jassasiya.

The opening ended with the event sponsor honoring the entrepreneurs, sponsors, and participants, then proceeded to open the exhibition of products of entrepreneurs with disabilities. Then there was a panel discussion titled ‘’The Role of Small and Medium Authorities in Supporting Entrepreneurship of People with Disabilities’’ presented by Dr. Ahmed Al Hoti, a media personality and economic analyst. A  presentation on “The Role of Institutions in Supporting Entrepreneurs with Disabilities‘’ followed which was presented by Ms. Badriya Al Jadidi, Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority specialized in entrepreneurship.  Mr.Mustafa Al-Lawati also presented a workshop on ‘’Business Development and Opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises‘’.

The activities concluded with a workshop on ‘’Digital Marketing for Small and Medium Enterprises’’ presented by Issa Al-Noubi .
