UTAS-A Holds a Symposium on Blockchain Revolutionizing Trade Credit for SMEs: Fostering Economic Growth

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences- Al Mussanah (UTAS-A) in association with Arab Open University organized a symposium on "Blockchain Revolutionizing Trade Credit for   SMEs: Fostering Economic Growth" on 18th October 2023.

This is a part of the TRC-supported research project BFP/RGP/ICT/22/055, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, (MOHERI), Sultanate of Oman. The purpose of this symposium is to explore the transformative potential of blockchain technology in boosting small businesses and startups. Recognized experts in the field were invited to enrich the experience of the attendees and foster a deeper understanding of how blockchain technology can be leveraged for the benefit of small enterprises.

Mr. Ahmed Al Yamani, VP of Technology, Frontier Technology LLC, Al Khuwair, was the Guest of Honor who explained the Blockchain Technology, and Ms. Nooriya Al Balushi, Technical Innovation Specialist, Central Bank of Oman, also shared her thoughts on fintech services in bank and blockchain technology. Representatives from various banks such as Sohar International, Bank Muscat, Ahli Bank, and different SMEs from logistics and small businesses attended the symposium. The faculty from UTAS branches also attended the symposium.

Before the end of the session, panel and focused-group discussions took place where everyone was given the chance to share their ideas and explore topics related to blockchain technology.
