Research Council introduced ‘Upgrade’ program for Information Technology and Communications Technology (ICT) students who are interested in transforming their graduation projects to startups.

 An inception of the program and intensive orientation campaign included a visit to universities and colleges in Oman and reaching out to students in an attempt to encourage them to participate.

the evaluation of the project depends on the clarity and uniqueness of the idea, technical feasibility, the competitive advantage of the idea, its marketing strategy.

 

 

 

 

 

The winning teams will get assistance to turn the idea of a graduation project to a start-up company through incubation, entrepreneurship consultancy, providing the necessary seed financing, giving commercial and financial skills and providing technical advice, in addition to a training opportunity in one of the project-related international companies. It is worth mentioning that ‘Upgrade’ program on transforming student graduation projects to start-ups in the ICT sector is a competition based program. Participating projects must fall among one or more of the following topics; a) Smart Cities Solutions, b) Internet of Things Applications, c) Information Security and d) E-Government Solutions.

‘Upgrade’ aims to create a convenient environment to the innovations of students in the university stages and the conversion of student projects in the ICT sector to start-up companies that are capable of delivering economic and social benefits
