On the 6th of September 2023, a thought-provoking workshop on self-efficacy was delivered at the Preparatory Studies Centre (PSC) at UTAS-A, specifically tailored for English lecturers. The primary objective of this workshop was to enhance teachers' awareness of the profound link between high self-efficacy and improved teaching performance. The workshop was delivered by Ms. Pariya Omrani, Ms. Shadha Neiroukh, and Mr. Mohsen Ghorbanpoor.

The presenters pointed out that a literature review on this topic consistently shows that teachers with higher self-efficacy exhibit flexibility, adaptability, patience, and a willingness to evolve their strategies. In addition, teachers with high self-efficacy often display transformational leadership qualities. They inspire their students through their passion for teaching, creating an environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth.

This type of leadership fosters a sense of empowerment among students, enabling them to reach their full potential. In contrast, teachers with lower self-efficacy tend to display rigidity, strictness, impatience with slow learners, and are often novice teachers.

The workshop on self-efficacy delivered to English lecturers at the Centre served as a reminder of the significant impact self-belief can have on teaching performance. By recognizing the connection between high self-efficacy and better teaching outcomes, educators can empower themselves to become more flexible, adaptable, patient, and willing to change strategies. Ultimately, this will result in a more enriching learning experience for teachers and students. As we continue to explore the complexities of education, it is imperative that we prioritize the cultivation of self-efficacy among educators, as it is an essential ingredient for success in the classroom.
