Mastering Mendeley: A Workshop for Research References Management
ITThe Human Resource Development Committee (HRDC) of the IT Department, in collaboration with the Research, Consultation, and Industrial Innovation Committee, conducted a professional development session on 'Mastering Mendeley: A Workshop for Research References Management' on December 12, 2023. The session was led by Ms. Nura Said Mohsin Al Saifi of the IT Department.
The main objective of the workshop was to equip the participants with the necessary skills to exploit the potential of Mendeley, a reference manager software used to manage and share research papers and generate bibliographies for scholarly articles. This workshop was designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Mendeley's features and functionalities, empowering them to enhance their research projects. The presenter highlighted the steps of installing the application and creating a Mendeley account. Furthermore, she explained the various features of the application, such as the utilization of a PDF viewer, techniques for annotating and highlighting, diverse methods for adding documents, installation and utilization of the citation plug-in in Microsoft Word, incorporation of bibliographies for seamless referencing, and steps for creating collaborative groups. The practical activities helped the participants experience the functions and features of the Mendeley application.
